Experimental Space Collective [esc] emerged from online weekly meetings of artists that began in March 2020 in response to experiences of lockdown. We aimed to bring physicality into the virtual space and to exploit and challenge the hostile screen environment, to see how it could work to forge new creative spaces and connections between artists in different countries.

 

An international online artist residency [a glass envelope] in November 2020 expanded the possibilities of working together from a distance, from Bulgaria, to India, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Turkiye, United Kingdom, United States of America!

 [esc] has evolved through experimentation in the crossover between physical and digital domains. The bonds created enable a network of support and responsiveness to requests and new initiatives. It has become a community of trust and friendship that continues to enrich our artistic practices.
